  • Store fixtures
  • Signage
  • Event décor
  • Exhibits
  • Pedestals

Fabricating Green Mirror Acrylic

Green Mirror 2414 Acrylic Sheet can be fabricated using many standard acrylic fabrication methods, including:

  • Laser cutting
  • Laser engraving
  • CNC routing
  • Saw cutting
  • Drilling
  • Heat bending
  • Sanding
  • Edge polishing

When laser cutting or engraving mirrored acrylic, we recommend placing the mirrored surface face down.

Keep the protective masking in place during fabrication whenever possible to reduce scratching.

How Acrylic Mirror Is Made

Acrylic mirror is manufactured by applying a reflective finish to one side of an acrylic sheet and protecting the reflective layer with a painted backing.

The mirrored backing can be damaged by certain solvents, adhesives, and chemicals. Test cleaners, adhesives, or other materials on a small sample before using them on a finished project.

Cleaning Green Mirror Acrylic

Use a soft microfiber cloth and a cleaner designed for acrylic or plastic surfaces.

Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, abrasive pads, and harsh solvents, which can damage the acrylic or mirror backing.

Novus 1 Plastic Clean & Shine is suitable for routine acrylic cleaning.

Green Mirror Acrylic vs. Glass Mirror

Green mirror acrylic is a practical alternative to colored glass mirror when weight, fabrication, or breakage are concerns.

Compared with glass, acrylic mirror is:

  • Lighter
  • Easier to cut and machine
  • Shatter-resistant
  • Easier to fabricate into custom sizes and shapes
  • Suitable for CNC and laser fabrication

Acrylic mirror can scratch more easily than glass and should be handled and cleaned carefully.

Acrylic FAQs

Please read our frequently asked questions to find out more.

What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?

Most acrylic sheet is manufactured by either extrusion or cell casting.  The benefits to cell casting are small minimums and a higher molecular weight.  This results in a slightly better chemical resistance, heat resistance and clarity.  The disadvantages to cell cast is that thickness tolerance within a sheet can vary. Extruded sheets offer the user less fluctuation in thickness across sheet.

What is the weight of acrylic per square foot?
